BIMx brings your projects to life with VR Technology

If you haven't yet heard of, or tried, BIMx - you need to! Especially now that you can immerse yourself in your ARCHICAD projects using Google Cardboard and BIMx. 

The BIMx App was developed by Graphisoft to allow you to access your ARCHICAD projects, project notes, and walk-throughs on smart phones and tablets.  

Now you can use BIMx with Google Cardboard - which works by placing your iOS or Android phone within a low-cost, cardboard headset. When held up to your eyes, the lenses in the Cardboard create a 3D effect and voila - you have an immersive VR view of your project.

ARCHICAD wins BIM Product of the Year, for the 6th year in a row

This week ARCHICAD was again named 'BIM Product of the Year' at The Hammers, a UK event run by Construction Computing Magazine.

The British magazine’s annual awards in the UK are much respected within the building industry as they seek to recognize real innovations powering users’ workflows. There are few awards dedicated to information technologies in the construction industry, and ‘The Hammers’ are regarded as reflecting actual user experiences with IT solutions. Entries open for the 2017 Timber Design Awards

Entries are now being accepted for the 2017 NZ Wood-Resene Timber Design Awards, with Stage One entries closing on Friday 28 October.

These awards are the premier space for architects, engineers and others to profile their recent work with locally-sourced timber and wood-based products, manufactured in New Zealand.

COBie inventor says ARCHICAD is 100 percent COBie-compliant

The inventor of COBie, Bill East, has been working with Rob Jackson, Associate Director of Bond Bryan Architects, to simulate the early design in ARCHICAD of one of four dormitories on a fictitious site adjacent to the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois. The goal is to create a reference COBie test project. According to East, “The results of this experiment demonstrated 100% compliance with ARCHICAD against NBIMS-US V3, Design Stage COBie requirements.” Find out more about this project here.[More ...]

Top Student Architecture Award Announced

James Durcan of Victoria University’s School of Architecture has received New Zealand’s top prize for architecture students.
Durcan was announced as the winner of the 2015 NZIA Cadimage Group Student Design Awards in Auckland last night. The judging followed two days of presentations by 12 final year students from the country’s three Schools of Architecture, which are departments of Victoria University of Wellington, the University of Auckland and Unitec.
